Job Description

This position is a 6 month Co-op lasting from January - June 2022

We are looking for Co-Op students currently enrolled in graduate programs with strong background in computational biology, bioinformatics or statistics with a keen interest in integrative and machine learning methods to analyze our rich data sets and gain unique insight into disease.

Potential Projects For 2022 Include The Following

* You will identify and apply computational framework to combine analysis of epigenetic and genetic data collected from Parkinson's Disease patients. Your project will interrogate pathways dysregulated in integrated data sets and identify patient subgroups. You will identify epigenetic features that distinguish non-manifesting pathogenic mutation carriers as compared to patient mutation carriers to understand modulators of risk and validate signatures in independent data sets.
* You will help improve Biogen's analytic pipeline for spatial gene expression profiling by reading associated literature, developing exploratory simulations to compare analysis approaches, and finally apply to Biogen datasets by integrating single nuclei RNAseq (snRNAseq) and spatial transcriptomics data for mouse models as well as human brain tissue collected from Multiple sclerosis lesions. This may involve theoretical exploration of different spatial correlation structures, model forms, missing data imputation strategies, QC filtering approaches, or visualization algorithms


You should have experience with:

* Strong programming in R/Python
* Computer programming, UNIX system, statistical analysis
* NGS data analytics, data integration, machine learning and network analysis

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

* Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
* At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
* Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university


Enrolled in MS program. PhD students preferred.

Majoring in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Biomedical Engineering, or similar fields
