Scientific Search's client is seeking creative and enthusiastic scientists with the ability to collaboratively establish new platform technologies for molecular discovery and therapeutic development. In particular, they are looking for experienced preclinical biologists to manage assay development across a wide range of molecular targets, as well as collaboratively design and implement automated high throughput screening (HTS) to integrate with cutting edge chemistry automated systems. This position will be a part of the Applied Research group which is developing innovative solutions under platform for automated and AI-guided drug discovery.
Overview
* Small molecule drug discovery from target selection, hit discovery to lead candidate selection
* Leading multi-disciplinary teams focused on the biological aspects of discovery programs including selection, set up, validation and running of in vitro and in vivo assays for novel molecular targets
* HTS automation, implementation, data tracking and analysis
* Work closely with researchers in the Applied Research group to invent, apply and transition new technologies and products into the marketplace including drugs candidates and systems that accelerate the drug discovery process
* Will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers engaged in projects that feature robotics, artificial intelligence, computational biology, lab automation, microfabrication and imaging
Qualifications
* A Ph.D. degree in cellular biology, molecular biology or related field with ten plus years' experience in pharma / biotech or an academic drug discovery center
* Demonstration of successful leadership of complex programs and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
* Excellent communication skills - demonstrated ability to represent programs to senior management and manage alliances with external partners
* A high-impact publication record or comparable success within a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company setting
* Broad experience in mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, and biochemical characterization methods is essential
* Experience with in vivo models is desirable
* Candidates should have a strong track record, and interest in innovation with demonstrated ability to conceive of and execute challenging projects
* The successful candidate must have a willingness to work in a wide variety of therapeutic areas and disease states
* Experience with proposal writing and presentation skills are highly valued
