POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Policy for Government Affairs is responsible for interacting with government and certification bodies to proliferate the adoption of natural biomaterials and to represent and protect the company's business plans and interests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manage sustainability certifications and policies from certification bodies that impact the company.
* Partner with Operations and Technology to support policies for go-to market activities for new and emerging products.
* Prepare carbon life cycle analyses to support certifications and policy directives.
* Support the Government Affairs team in building and maintaining relationships with governmental institutions and affiliated parties.
* Research and monitor government activities that could affect the company's business and customers.
* Assists senior management and leadership with strategic planning for known and potential policy activities related to the business and industry.
* Collaborates with industry advocates to build areas of common interest.
* Cross functionally partners with internal teams to identify strategic opportunities with government and certification bodies.
* Partner with Legal and Marketing to quickly handle and resolve critical and time-sensitive challenges.
* Knowledge of current and emerging public policy trends relating to natural materials and polymers.
* Develop and iterate on content policies to ensure regulatory preparedness and mitigate business risk.
* Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Experience with and strong understanding of sustainability best practices.
* Experience with product certification process for new materials.
* Strong preference for knowledge, skills, and abilities related to recycling, biomaterials, composting, and plastics policies.
* Strong quantitative skills.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
* Bachelor's degree in Sustainability or related field required; Graduate degree preferred.
* Ten years of experience in product development, product marketing or sustainability required.
