Participates in research and development activities linked to new product and material initiatives, using established scientific techniques. Primary area of responsibility will be in conducting Microbiological analysis associated with Bacterial Challenge Studies, membrane/protein binding studies and the validation of membrane filters, membrane/protein binding studies and the validation of membrane filters, including the documentation and assessment of the results.

* Maintain a safe working environment in and around the laboratory;
* Have good verbal and written command of English & presentation skills;
* Be willing and able to conduct experimental work and analysis and have a ?hands-on? attitude;
* Develop and maintain laboratory policies and procedures;
* Determine project goals in consultation with the global Technology team;
* Support the selection and onboarding of new team members
* Understanding the requirements associated with maintaining a good laboratory environment; Ensure that laboratory procedures and documentation comply and comply with all safety regulations;
* Fundamental understanding of environmental regulatory agencies and requirements (e.g. OSHA, TSCA, Reach);
* The use of proper sterile/aseptic) techniques;
* Familiar with the use of Autoclaves, Incubators and typical microbiology laboratory equipment;
* ·Maintaining bacterial cultures;
* Enumeration and identification (typing) of bacteria;
* Familiar with the use of Typical laboratory instrumentation e.g., a spectrophotometer for determining protein and bacterial concentrations;
* Responsible for cleaning, maintaining, calibrating devices and equipment.
* Responsible for maintaining a sanitary laboratory including hoods, autoclave, incubators and other associated equipment;
* Responsible for the selection and maintenance of laboratory test equipment;
* Responsible for inventory and the ordering laboratory consumables;
* Guide and provide practical support for completion of proof of concept experimental evaluations;
* Support the activities of fellow Scientists and Technicians, whilst developing their technical and personal skillset to the maximum;
* Drive and support potential prototype technology design;
* Responsible for the technology transfer of promising technology candidates to the Technology Development team;
* Presentation to various internal audiences;
* Write-up of technical reports, and preparation of training materials, Standard Operating Procedures;
* 10% travel time (other HV sites, customers and vendors, conferences, committees, training etc.);

Project management with frequent team updates;

* M.S in Microbiology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biomedical or chemical engineering or related field, OR
* B.S degree in Microbiology or related field with atleast two (2) years relevant work experience.

- The successful applicant must be able to work at the location of the company in West Groton, MA.
- Occasional international travel may be required, especially to Europe and/or China.
- Work requires repetitive motion of arms/hands, standing for prolonged period, performing frequent bending and twisting motions, lifting of light weight objects up to 10 pounds.
- Steady hands and dexterity to perform tasks repeatedly and accurately.
- Work performed in laboratory environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
- Work performed in production area with potential exposure to large equipment /machinery and loud noises.
- Work performed in office area with potential long hours in front of computer.
