The Director, Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing comprehensive environmental health and safety programs for Lyric productions, special events, and operations. This position will provide guidance and assistance to productions for all health and safety issues, create written safety materials, and ensure that all components of performances have implemented the required elements of the EHS program. The position will also analyze and respond to safety concerns, provide quick and appropriate resolutions. This position will also analyze injury statistics to determine trends and/or potential job hazards and coordinate and maintain employee training and education programs to increase safety awareness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrate leadership in alignment with Lyrics mission and vision.
  • Manage all aspects of Lyrics COVID-19 compliance efforts.
  • Oversee all COVID-19 Safety Officers.
  • Develop workplace safety policies and programs in collaboration with and as a member of Lyrics Covid-19 Safety Team and ongoing Safety Committee.
  • Research, advise, and instruct on various safety-related topics and best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation and evolving scientific guidance in collaboration with Executive Leadership and Human Resources.
  • Initiate and organize workplace safety training of employees and executives in coordination with Human Resources to share best practices and train staff on Lyrics safety policies.
  • Maintain rosters of staff, vendors, and contractors performing critical work onsite, including dates, duration, roles, etc.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Director of Facilities to ensure the availability of safety supplies, including personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Director of Facilities regarding cleaning protocols and requirements.
  • Be present during critical onsite work periods, prevent and stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., inadequate availability of cleaning supplies or not using protective equipment).
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle workers compensation claims.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director of Facilities, coordinate any needed workplace safety measures with 20 North Wacker representatives.
  • As the business evolves, so may this role. These duties may change as Lyrics leadership identifies the need at any time.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • 4-year degree, preferably in Occupational Health/Safety/Fire and/or Industrial Hygiene or commensurate work experience in the field of Production Safety.
  • At least 2 5 years in a dedicated EHS position.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of ISO 45001/14001 and OSHA Standards are highly desirable.
  • CSP certification (Certified Safety Professional).
  • Has demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment during challenging or stressful conditions.
  • Must be dedicated to mastering and practicing evolving workplace safety guidance from local, state, and federal authorities.
  • Project management experience working with cross-departmental teams.
  • Must be able to meet critical deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Consistent and reliable follow-up and follow-through abilities are required.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage a consistently heavy workload.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality of highly privileged information.
  • Good writing/composition skills. Ability to prepare correspondence that is accurate, grammatically correct, and in proper business format.

WORK CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to work indoors continuously wearing PPE.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Recommended medical clearance to work onsite.
