Overview:

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Utah Water Research Laboratory at Utah State University invite applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in the area of Environmental Engineering. We seek applicants with preferred focus in Microbiology or Physical/Chemical Processes with a vision for research to generate the knowledge needed to solve emerging water quality problems. It is expected that these positions will be filled at the Assistant Professor level; however, outstanding candidates will be considered at the Associate Professor level. The positions will include strong research, teaching, and service components.

You will join a research community that includes world-class engineering and water science scholars, with a focus on environmental sustainability, and a university community that supports transdisciplinary research, partnerships and collaborations, and supports research and teaching excellence. These are academic-year (9 month) tenure-track appointments with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2022.

Responsibilities:

Your role will be to become an emerging scholar with an original, creative, innovative, and forward-looking research program with demonstrated excellence in your area of specialization, as will be evidenced by high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates the potential for independent research leading to peer-evaluated publications, securing external research funding, active engagement with the public and private sectors, and supervision of graduate students. In addition to research Utah State University values effective teachers of both undergraduate and graduate students, as measured by strong student and peer review and feedback.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.

Ability to conduct and disseminate research in the area of environmental engineering.

Ability to obtain sponsored research to support scholarly activities.

Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Environmental Engineering and areas of expertise.

Ability to provide institutional and professional service.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:

Environmental Engineering Microbiology/Biotechnology,

Water Quality monitoring and impact assessment,

Urban water and environmental infrastructure design and resilience,

Advanced Water and Wastewater design,

Sustainable Communities,

Resource Recovery and Reuse

Innovative materials/processes for water treatment

Technologies for recovery and reuse of impaired waters

Municipal, provincial, industrial and/or Indigenous community collaborative research

Professional engineering licensure or the ability to obtain licensure

To be considered at the Associate Professor level, the following additional qualifications must be met:

An established research agenda with an accompanying publication record.

A record of extramural funding.

A record of excellence in research, teaching, and supervising graduate students.

A record of providing institutional and professional service.
