BorgWarner is currently looking for a "dynamic, results-driven" individual to join as our Global Manager of Environmental. This position develops and drives strategic programs in its area of expertise and supports a decentralized organization in the implementation of cost-effective and compliant solutions, considering all relevant external legislations and internal guidelines.

The Global Manager of Environmental is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of environmental compliance, environmental aspects of operations, product environmental stewardship, chemical compliance, environmental risk management strategies, environmental management system integration and EHS compliance audits across the enterprise. This position will work to influence and support the plants and global functions in achieving commitments made to reducing its impact on the environment.

This position is a key member of the BorgWarner Corporate Administrative Office, reporting to the Director, Global Environmental and Sustainability. This role works collaboratively with various functions including, but not limited to, Sustainability, Facilities, Health and Safety, Legal, Mergers & Acquisitions, Business Units and Reporting Units to provide direction in support of the Local Accountability Global Strength (LA/GS) business model and in support of the organizational goals and objectives.

  • Support Business Unit (BU) environmental committee leaders in sharing ideas and processes across BU's.
  • Support environmental goal-setting for the company's operations and tracking the company's progress to goals.
  • Manage utility data, collaborating with a third-party and the BUs to ensure best possible data integrity and accuracy.
  • Deliver and validate requested environmental data for annual Sustainability Report.
  • Support the locations in project implementation that enable goal attainment.
  • Drive environmental improvements across locations to achieve overall enterprise goals related to environmental.
  • Provide review of and support to the annual Sustainability Report, especially the environmental section of the report.
  • Manage enterprise environmental assessments and disclosures requested by customers, investors and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate vendors who may provide energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to the BUs and provide support the BUs in their decisions of which partners to utilize.
  • Chemical compliance and environmental product stewardship support.
  • Environmental remediation support.
  • Assist in managing and supporting our Global EHS auditing program.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute the Global sharing of Good EHS business practices.
  • Maintain and organize Corrective Action database related to EHS auditing program.
  • Assist in training 3rd party auditors and internal BW auditors to EHS auditing program procedures.
  • Assist in developing and presenting data analytics regarding the audit program.
  • Participate in Plant EHS audits as a corporate liaison and technical resource.
  • Assist in the development of global environmental standards based on business needs, identify required resources to ensure successful implementation, and ensure continual improvement.
  • Work as a key member of the Global Environmental and Sustainability team and effectively promote and implement strategic goals, plans and initiatives.
  • Provide technical support as a subject matter expert in an effective and efficient manner including appropriate related training.
  • Assist with EMS Surveillance audits and Certifications audits as requested
  • Develop and promote Guidance Documents and Standards regarding EMS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Biology, Environmental Health and Safety Management, or similar.
  • MBA or Advanced degree in environmental-related field is a plus.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated work experience in Environmental or EHS roles in a manufacturing environment. Environmental remediation experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a leadership role.
  • Experience with implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessments and LEED certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Greenhouse Gas protocol, including Scope 3 emissions, is a plus.
  • Work experience with Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM preferred.

This position will adhere to the Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Emissions Tralee Safety Policy Manual. This individual will work in a manner that stresses the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses. He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and co-workers. In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to their immediate supervisor.
