CoWorx Staffing has a new Direct Hire opportunity for a Health, Safety, and Environmental Associate in Haverhill, MA. In this 1st shift position, you will coordinate necessary programs, reports, training, audits, and systems in order to comply with all environmental and safety laws and regulations and to continuously improve our Health and Safety and Environmental performance.
This role reports to the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager. Health, Wellness, and other benefits available.

Primary Duties:
  • Train plant personnel on environmental, hygiene and safety matters, such as use of hazardous chemicals, hazard communication, emergency plant evacuations, and audits.
  • Maintain and file documents as per internal policies/procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Perform investigations and studies in order to improve efficiency and reduce the waste generation
  • Obtain appropriate disposal permits for the hazardous, solid and special waste streams.
  • Monitor all waste activities such as generation, storage, inventory, transportation, and disposal.
  • Evaluate SDS and approve or disapprove the use of new and existing chemicals in the facility.
  • Investigate accidents related to personal injury or property damage due to industrial activity in the facility
  • Take appropriate measures to establish control of hazardous conditions on working environments
  • Perform hygiene studies, such as noise survey, heat stress, air monitoring, and waste sampling


Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Current certification (CHMM, ASP or CSP) preferred.
  • 2-5 years HSE experience in a manufacturing facility (food manufacturing preferred)
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Ability to develop, conduct, and maintain training programs using lecture, PowerPoint, or practical methods
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Skilled in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Cooperative and collaborative team player and leader.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Hours:
  • 8am-5pm
  • 1 hour lunch break
