We are seeking an Environmental Scientist with 0 - 10 years of professional experience to be part of our Environmental Services department. You may work out of our Jacksonville, FL office.

The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for providing technical support to our transportation and land development projects. This position is for someone who enjoys a mixture of office and field work and enjoys a diversity of project types. The Environmental Scientist will work under the direction of several senior-level environmental professionals with diverse areas of expertise including wetland and upland permitting, protected species management, and contamination remediation. We are seeking someone excited to expand their professional expertise and to contribute to WGI's ongoing growth.

Responsibilities:

Assist with environmental permit applications by coordinating with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, planners, and surveyors

Field data collection including wetland assessments, protected species surveys, tree surveys, soil and groundwater sampling, and other miscellaneous environmental services

Analyze data, prepare graphics, and write technical reports

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (M.S. preferred)

Ability to identify Florida trees and wetland plants

Knowledge of listed species that occur in Florida

Ability to delineate wetlands preferred, PWS certification preferred

Excellent technical writing skills

Prior experience with GIS or AutoCAD is a plus

Must be able to work in difficult field conditions including intense heat, rain and in remote and swampy conditions

Knowledge of Florida and federal permitting rules, and prior experience with regulatory agencies (FDEP, WMDs, USACE) preferred
