Responsibilities of the Director, Molecular Biology (Stealth start up):
  • Designing a research program for the delivery of our technology using insights from virology and vector engineering
  • Evaluate new therapeutic opportunities for gene regulation, e.g. epigenome editing
  • Developing deep domain expertise through literature and engagement with external advisors
  • Independently execute studies, analyze data, share the conclusions and propose follow up experiments.
  • Partner with the disease biology and delivery science experts to optimize lead designs and screening methods
  • Effector engineering for improving activity and specificity
  • Establishment of effector characterization platform (efficacy, tox, specificity, packaging size)
  • Evaluation of delivery approaches for these technologies
  • Design and clone novel DNA constructs using state-of-the-art cloning strategies.
  • Form and test hypotheses using cultured cells employing a variety of cellular and molecular readouts.
  • Develop assays to facilitate testing experimental hypotheses.
  • Science communication and standardization
  • Examine data and prepare technical reports, summaries, and present at team meetings
  • Draft and review Protocols and SOPs.


Requirements of the Director, Molecular Biology (Stealth start up):
  • PhD in Life sciences with 8+ years of industry or academic experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with protein expression and translational regulation with a strong publication record.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with molecular cloning and DNA plasmid design, nucleic acid isolation, PCR, qPCR and molecular detection techniques.
  • Extensive experience with mammalian tissue culture and cell-based assays.
  • Familiarity with next-generation sequencing methods.
