Synthetic Biology and Virology Research Associate

Join our rapidly growing scientific team at Replay to design, engineer, and evaluate the next generation of virus-based gene therapies and synthetic biology platform technologies!

Replay is recruiting talented, motivated laboratory scientists for positions at all levels (Research Associate, Scientist, Senior Scientist). Replay is a start-up, VC-backed biotechnology company located in La Jolla, CA focusing on developing gene therapy applications using herpes simplex virus (HSV) as a vector for gene delivery and leveraging synthetic biology techniques, like DNA synthesis and assembly.

We are looking for Research Associates with laboratory experience in molecular biology, microbiology, yeast biology, virology, cell biology, or synthetic biology and an enthusiasm to build new gene therapy vectors, protocols, and the team. Replay is hiring Research Associates at all levels depending on education and experience. Specific experience with tissue culture, HSV virology, DNA assembly, and/or yeast biology is not required, but is highly advantageous.

Position Requirements

Laboratory experience in molecular biology or virology

Any education level (BS, MS)

Team-oriented, motivated, organized

Skills desired for Research Associate

Successful candidates will possess some of the following skills.

Lab skills: PCR, nucleic acid extraction, electrophoresis, bacterial and yeast growth and transformation, primer design, DNA assembly (using in vitro or in vivo methods), tissue culture, virology (especially with herpesviruses)

Computer skills: DNA sequence programs (i.e. ApE, SnapGene, Geneious). Computational/bioinformatic skills including DNA sequence analysis are advantageous, but not required.

Personal skills: Effective communicator, team-player, organized and detail-oriented
