Overview:
Under general supervision, will assist the lab gain mechanistic understanding of cellular and physiological responses to the metabolic environment and metabolic stress.

COVID VACCINE INFORMATION, PLEASE READ:
Along with our fellow health care organizations in the Longwood Medical Area and Greater Boston, all members of the Joslin workforce will be required (by October 31, 2021) to receive a COVID vaccine. The vaccine requirement holds true for Joslin employees who work fully remote and will be a condition of employment for all moving forward.
Therefore, the successful candidate would have to provide proof of full vaccination prior to October 31, 2021.
Responsibilities:
Maintains cell culture stocks and preparation of reagents for studies.
Assists with general laboratory supply, and equipment maintenance.
Maintains organization and records for laboratory.
Assist with managing a colony of genetically altered mice including mouse husbandry and breeding, designing crosses, and maintaining organization and documentation of colony.
In conjunction with other lab staff, conducts research studies of metabolism to test hypotheses using physiological and molecular biological approaches.
a. Maintains appropriate records of study design and results.
b. Evaluates research results, discussing project outcomes with laboratory personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Project-based experience working in a basic science research lab
Experience in aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture
Experience with PCR techniques
Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite and facility with learning new software systems for management of molecular biology data.
Familiarity with basic laboratory instruments and equipment - in a laboratory setting.
Ability to follow general instructions and procedures, as provided.
Strong organizational and communication skills (communicate clearly and effectively via verbal and written instruction).
Ability to prioritize responsibilities - through completion.
Attention to detail, critical thinking, timeliness
Ability to work independently and with others in the lab - to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts.
Highly motivated, ability to take initiative, and willingness to contribute to team efforts
