: The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and creative individual, part of an active, multidisciplinary group of scientists responsible for the design and development of host cells for the Biopharmaceutical Industry. Primary job functions include performing routine molecular biology and mammalian cell culture techniques in support of cell line engineering and development projects.
o Works with daily to weekly supervision but can independently perform most scientific experiments and routine laboratory techniques.
o Indirect and limited direct customer interactions based on individual projects.
o Interacts and collaborates scientifically with direct team members as well as scientists in other departments.
o Open to new ideas and always seeks critical feedback from colleagues and demonstrate effective cooperation.
- Project Workload/Time Management
o Technical support and/or execution of up to two projects of low to moderate complexity.
o Learns priorities and completes the volume of work required for meeting project goals and timelines.
- Experimental Design, Planning and Execution
o Experimental design and execution done with guidance from team/project leads for complex experiments.
o Learn to accurately interpret data and determine next steps alongside the project team/lead.
o Demonstration of strong oral and written communication skills.
o Maintain laboratory notebook with detailed experimental designs and results.
o Assist in preparing written project reports and presenting oral updates/summaries at team meetings.
o Reads and understands scientific literature in primary focus areas.
o Seeks out new information and opportunities to advance group technologies, products and services.
o Assists in generating ideas for process improvements and new products and services.
- Understanding Company's Systems, Policies and Procedures
o Demonstrates working knowledge of internal systems related to new product development.
o Performs work according to company guidelines for safety and regulatory compliance.
o Assist in the transfer of products from R&D to manufacturing and QC.
o Contributes to support functions of the lab (cleaning, equipment maintenance, reagent prep, etc.).Desired Technical Skills

- Mammalian cell/tissue culture techniques including thawing, freezing, transfection and single cell cloning.
- Standard molecular biology skills such as DNA purification, molecular cloning, genomic and plasmid DNA purification, RNA isolation, PCR and RT-PCR are strongly desired.
- Working knowledge of bioinformatics.
- Competent with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
