Immunitas: The Human Approach to Oncology

Position Summary

Immunitas is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head of Computational Biology to join our growing research team in our mission to serve patients with intractable cancers. This leadership role will collaborate closely with the Biology and Protein Science teams in a highly dynamic environment, and will set the vision and goals of computational biology within the company moving forward.

Immunitas employs single-cell sequencing to identify novel, exciting oncology targets. We are currently advancing multiple programs toward early human studies.

Your primary responsibility will be to direct the work of our computational biology team to discover and validate novel targets using the Immunitas platform. You will also generate computational insights to support clinical development strategy and biomarker development. This is a high impact role with regular collaboration across the scientific functions and leadership team.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Managing an internal and external team of talented computational biologists who are analyzing and interpreting large complex single cell data sets for new target and biomarker discovery, MoA, and efficacy studies
  • Developing a vision and roadmap for the build out and workflow of the computational biology group
  • Collaborating with world-renowned academic advisors to develop and refine strategic plans for computational analysis and projects
  • Developing and executing strategies for mining of proprietary and public data for novel targets and combinations and design strategies for follow-on experiments
  • Proactively contribute computationally-derived biological insights in cross-functional team meetings and leadership team discussions
  • Working closely with early clinical development teams and translational oncology leads to identify patient populations and biomarkers for early clinical trials
  • Meaningfully participate in the design of future clinical trials to enable high quality computational data output and utility
  • Proactively recommend areas of additional research or work expansion to contribute to identification of novel therapeutics

Requirements:
  • PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or other quantitative discipline with a focus on molecular or cellular biology, + 5 years experience, or Masters with equivalent relevant experience
  • Prior experience in computational biology leadership role
  • Excellent mentoring skills and demonstrated ability to promote a healthy team culture
  • Strong desire to work cross functionally in a flexible, fluid, creative environment
  • Extensive experience in R or python with relevant statistical packages, Matlab experience a plus
  • Experience with scRNA-seq analysis, preferably including Seurat or scanpy packages
  • Experience with cloud-based computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure) preferred
  • Data management experience is a plus
  • Deep familiarity with molecular biology, oncology, and/or immunology
  • Ability to identify and communicate priorities and research conclusions
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented environment with colleagues from diverse disciplines
