Gennao Bio is a privately held genetic medicines company developing first-in-class targeted nucleic acid therapeutics utilizing a proprietary gene monoclonal antibody (GMAB) platform technology. GMAB is an adaptive technology that uses a novel, cell-penetrating antibody that non-covalently binds to and delivers therapeutic levels of a wide variety of nucleic acid payloads to select cells. This non-viral delivery platform is differentiated from traditional gene delivery systems as it can deliver multiple types of nucleic acids, allows for repeat dosing, and employs well-established manufacturing processes.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This key research associate position will be actively involved in supporting the characterization and testing of Gennao's novel biologic therapies. The candidate will assist in the development of critical in vitro biological and bioanalytical assays and methods for drug development and evaluation and will be responsible to manage the laboratory cell line bank to support in vivo pharmacology studies. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and performing cell-based assays. The selected scientist will conduct laboratory procedures in compliance with established protocols and in compliance with regulatory and laboratory requirements. She or he will work closely with other scientists across functional teams, providing critical assay and cell culture support for program lead selection and optimization.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical support for development of cell-based or bioanalytical assays and their use
  • Generate and/or procure needed cellular models (cancer models, muscle, neuronal, knockout cells etc.) for assessing cellular uptake, defining mechanism of action
  • Cell culture, media preparation and cell banking
  • Initiate and propagate cell lines, bank, and sterility test of newly acquired lines and engineered lines, manage inventory, and distribute flasks or cryovials
  • Performing basic molecular biology techniques
  • Cell differentiation, transfection, and/or electroporation of DNA plasmids for expressing antibodies and fusion proteins
  • Management of lab materials and supplies inventory

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. biological sciences and preferably cancer biology, pharmacology, immunology, or related discipline
  • 2-3 years' experience in academia or biotech industry in the use of mammalian cell culture to support in vitro and in vivo studies
  • Demonstrated expertise in the propagation and culture of mammalian cell lines and their maintenance; proficient in ensuring robust aseptic technique
  • Generate and/or procure needed cell lines and models (cancer models, muscle, neuronal, etc.) for bioassays for cellular uptake, defining mechanism of action and for in vivo tumor model studies
  • Prior experience in basic molecular biology techniques
  • Well organized, goal oriented; strong collaborative skills, capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Capable of performing lab experimentation with minimal direct supervision
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
