Job Description

Since 1999, Eurofins Genomics Blue Heron(Blue Heron Biotech) has been a pioneer in the gene synthesis industry and has delivered tens of millions of base pairs of perfectly accurate genes to thousands of customers worldwide using its proprietary GeneMaker® multi-technology platform. We are 100% committed to serving our customers with high quality, strict confidentiality standards, and rapid delivery of synthesized genes. In March 2019 Blue Heron was acquired by Eurofins Scientific and became a partner of the Eurofins Genomics US division. Blue Heron Biotech is searching for molecular biology scientist to join our R&D team.

As a member of the R&D team, the Scientist will lead the development of DNA-based applications and assays for synthetic biology, including high-throughput gene synthesis and cloning, NGS-based QC, etc. The Scientist will work closely with production team for implementation of processes developed by the R&D team and to improve the efficiency and robustness of existing processes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must be equally comfortable with wet lab experimentation and computation, and experience with laboratory automation and LIMS interfaces is preferred.
  • Ph.D. in molecular biology or related field
  • Must have strong background in molecular biology techniques including PCR/qPCR, enzymatic assays, and molecular cloning
  • Synthetic biology technology and method development experience
  • Experience manipulating large data sets
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Excellent grasp of experimental design and data interpretation
  • Excellent communication skills. Proficient in writing and communicating in English. Able to present data effectively.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and to adapt to changing priorities
  • Self-motivated and passionate about your work
