Our biopolymers are made from renewable resources that are biodegradable and compostable.Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist (With Strong Desire to Change the World)The HSE Specialist provides leadership in development and maintaining the facility's industrial health, safety, and environmental related matters. This includes all site HSE activities including but not limited to: Industrial, production and manufacturing activities, Industrial Hygiene, laboratory safety, training, hazmat, HAZWOPER, chemical processes, emergency evacuation and fire prevention preparedness, site permit maintenance, and regulatory recordkeeping for RWDC establishments. Must be US Citizen or Green Card holder.Job QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's Degree in safety, Engineering, Science, Industrial Hygiene or other technical related fields is preferred. Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA codes and standards. MUST be based industrial process applications. Experience: Minimum (2-3) years' working as an operator, technician, maintenance professional, etc. Minimum (5-10) years' working as an occupational health, safety and environmental supervisor, specialist or technician in chemical, oil & gas, manufacturing environment is required, with a minimum of (3) years of direct experience in developing and providing relevant training to others with a competent person status (train the trainer required) for at least the following areas of competency: scaffolding, fall protection competent person and rescue, hazardous energy, confined space competent person and rescue, scissor and arial lifts, health and hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents, cranes and hoisting, and personal protective equipment, First Aid/CPR and AED, RCRA (Hazardous Waste) required, DOT Hazardous Materials required, HAZWOPER Initial (40, 24 and annual 8-hour refresher) required, Fall protection and Confined space Rescue, Fire Prevention and rescue. Train the trainer preferred. Training must be verifiable. Experience establishing and maintaining construction site safety management programs, emergency response plan, and other programs and paperwork required by OSHA, EPA and local codes & standards. Works under minimal supervision. Must have a valid US driver license. Must be willing and able to travel up to 90% mainly domestic. International experience highly desired. International travel might be required. Excellent driving skills and clean driving record is required. Must hold a USA passport.Licenses, Certificates, Registrations
BCSP, ASP (Associate Safety Professional) certification preferred, First Aid/CPR, RCRA (Hazardous Waste) required, DOT Hazardous Materials required, HAZWOPER Initial (40 or 24 hour) and annual 8-hour refresher required. Train the trainer prefer.ISO 45001 Required, must have completed the OSHA-501 course, OSHA-511, First Aid/CPR and AED required, Fit tester for respiratory program required.
Major responsibilities include (but not limited to):Health & SafetyAct as liaison with teammates, costumers, contractor and regulatory agencies as required.Supports Company's commitment to a culture of safe work practices and safety excellence.Establish and maintain documentation required by OSHA and local safety authorities, including all OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements for primary and subcontractors.Assist HSE manager overseeing assigned projects, including construction of 4k and 25k modules, field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, and trade contractor and supplier coordination.Assist HSE manager in developing of HSE bridging document and contract management program. Provide support for contractor safety qualifications, worksite inspections and performance evaluations.Assist in the development of the RWDC HSE software, global management system and HSE data.Assist HSE manager in the development and implement jobsite HSE procedures for the plant, ongoing and new construction that meet and exceeds OSHA, NFPA, EPA compliance as required.Act as liaison with RWDC Control of Work System.Coach, evaluate and enforce all RWDC HSE Programs.Develop, maintaining, record and track all violations of health, safety and environmental rules, regulations, codes, and standards. Ensure corrective action for violations is taken in inexpedient manner and maintain in an electronic log.
Create and maintain a health, safety and environmental deficiency tracking system that monitors deficiencies until resolution.
Assist and participate as required in the Safety Committee activities and meetings.
Assist as direct in the accident and near miss reporting program and incident investigations. In partnership with department management, performs incident investigations to determine root cause and corrective/preventative actions. Works with managers to develop sound implementation plans to reduce risks.
Assist HSE manager develop and lead job-site emergency response teams.Assist in developing and distributing educational materials (HSE alerts, training shorts, CBT's).Assists in the development and maintenance of all plant HSE SOPs, coordinates periodic reviews and ensures HSE related documents reflecting current regulatory standards.Assists in the planning, development and implementation of the site's industrial hygiene programs of exposure assessments, air and noise monitoring and chemical hazard control techniques. Provides support for effective exposure controls for new/incoming APIs. Works with operational groups to mitigate risks and implement exposure controls. Assists in assessing new products as needed.Maintains HSE department inventory of safety equipment to include PPE, First Aid Kits, RCRA/DOT/Hazard Communication labels, LOTO equipment and spill response equipment.
Leads site Emergency Response Teams (clean-up, rescue, medical, fire, etc.) coordinating training, practice drills and response equipment.
EnvironmentalMaintains current knowledge of new and pending local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Proposes adjustments to current programs to ensure compliance.Coordinates and completes all applicable environmental reporting activities to include notifications, applications, permits, reports, records, and documentation. Ensures documents are properly maintained, collected, prepared, and submitted to applicable government agencies as required.Evaluates and recommends proper management/handling of new chemicals that may affect environmental permits and determine proper disposal.Oversees the HSE portion of the site hazardous and nonhazardous waste management and recycling programs. Monitor's vendors and assists in preparation for transport. Ensures all applicable personnel are trained and/or certified as required by regulation.Successful candidates must be flexible to work extended hours. Nights and weekends may be required.
