Overview:
The EHS Associate Director will be responsible for maintaining and managing day-to-day health, safety, emergency response, environmental compliance for the Philadelphia Site. The EHS Associate Director will monitor and improve processes
to prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees and assist the company to comply with safety laws.
Responsibilities:
Site compliance: ensure site compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, wastewater, and transportation for OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations as well as applicable state and local regulations.
Oversee OSHA Regulatory areas including industrial hygiene, biological exposure, hazard communication, laboratory chemical and biological hygiene plans, respiratory protection, general safety, confined space, lockout tag out, ergonomics, forklift safety, hazardous chemical material handling and storage, behavioral based safety, recordkeeping management, workers compensation, and process safety management.
Environmental Regulatory Expertise: Competencies to include Federal, State, and local regulations applicable to storm water, wastewater, solid waste, spill response and transportation of hazardous material.
Investigates EHS incidents, accidents, injuries, near-misses and complaints concerning hazardous conditions within the work place.
Facilitates audits and inspections to identify potential health hazards from chemicals, biological substances, physical agents, and other environmental hazards.
Will oversee the electronic EHS system for tracking investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA tracking, area inspections and regulatory permits.
Develop and maintain budgets for the EHS and Security team in support of business initiatives and strategies.
Leads and conducts employee training and emergency preparedness programs including after action reviews and change implementation.
Prepares and maintains all necessary safety related compliance documents and records.
Provides strategic leadership and works with management on identified Safety, Health & Security issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of EHS programs and culture.
Serves as Safety Representative in Senior Leadership meetings to ensure EHS program aligns with the strategic vision of the company.
Responsible for all permits and reports (as it applies to environmental issues) by the Federal, State, or City of Philadelphia and maintaining documentation around the same (air, water, waste)
Develops, implements and manages all components of the EHS program to ensure each element of the EHS program is documented and followed in a consistent manner.
Oversees the Radioactive Safety Program and Biological Safety Program.
Own Spill Prevention Control and Containment Program (SPCC)
Manages the BioSafety Officer and subsequent BSO Management system for the Philadelphia Site.
Be able to understand and articulate the business drivers aligned with safety strategy
Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
Accomplishes staff results by communicating updated organizational information, job expectations & supporting their work
Provides strategic leadership and growth plan for direct reports including performance competencies, goals & job results
Coaches, counsels, and conducts disciplinary actions as needed.
Develops, coordinates, and follows organizational systems, policies, procedures, and follows labor and capacity standards
Qualifications:
BS in Safety Management, Engineering, Industrial Safety, etc
10+ years relevant technical experience and min 3 years Managing people
Background in Security Management a plus
Preferred CSP, ASP, CHMM or CIH certification
