Frederick, MD

  • BS in a safety related field | MS preferred
  • CSP or CIH preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of direct safety experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in Bio-pharmaceutical R&D and or Manufacturing experience

Job Requirements:

Responsibilities

The key functions of the Environmental Health and Safety Officer are to support specific project needs and ensure that best practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met, and an improved safety culture and performance is delivered.

  • Assist manufacturing department with investigating SHE-related events
  • Identify, assess and work with the manufacturing department to develop and implement mitigation strategies
  • Participate in area safety inspections and meetings
  • Perform Risk Assessments
  • Review and update data management system
  • Identify CAPA's with the goal of preventing future incidents
  • Other safety related duties as requested


Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of direct safety experience required
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a Bio-pharmaceutical R&D | Manufacturing industry required
  • Experience must include risk assessments and incident investigations at a biologics or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
  • 3 years experience using SHE management databases required
  • BS is a Safety related field | MS in a safety related field preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Advance knowledge of safety standards
  • Experience developing a Site Specific Safety Plan
  • Experience developing a Corporate Health and Safety Plan
  • Must have experience in teaching Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, and Excavation classes

Experience preferred in the following areas:

  • Pharmaceutical
  • Manufacturing
  • Biologics
