The (BSPL) in the has an opportunity available for a research coordinator. The research coordinator will facilitate and coordinate many aspects of BSPL research initiatives, which includes methods ranging from process-tracing in controlled lab and virtual-lab experiments, to field experiments in real-world settings, to using big data, and include both quantitative modeling and qualitative approaches. The research is founded on the idea that psychological theory needs to interface with social sciences, physical and biological sciences, and engineering to effectively address large-scale societal problems, such as climate change.
The research coordinator will report directly to the lab manager, and work closely with affiliated postdocs, graduate students and lab staff. The research coordinator will facilitate and coordinate many aspects of BSPL research initiatives including supporting the lab manager in hiring, training, and management of research specialists and casual hourly research assistants and interns.
The research coordinator will also be charged with external communications to collaborators and the public on particular research projects.
Provide support for the research group, BSPL. Support research projects, such as creating research study materials and scientific protocols, conducting background research, including literature reviews and citations. Manage ongoing research projects of the research group and orchestrate organizational tasks.
Design research surveys and experiments, which includes programming, developing, testing and implementing online research projects. Collect, process, and analyze data. Write up results and contribute to and edit scientific manuscripts.
The position will support hiring and managing of the BSPL's research assistants; manage their work assignments, and that of the BSPL research group consisting of casual employees, graduate students, and undergrads to ensure successful completion.
Onboarding and training all new members of the lab with a special focus on research assistants and interns. This responsibility would include providing new hires with an orientation of lab resources and processes as well ensuring that new hires have the resources needed.
Maintain the BSPL website and other organizational resources. Ensure that the lab resources are optimally organized and clearly accessible to all members of the lab.
Expand the lab's external communication capabilities through establishing a social media presence and soliciting op-eds from lab members.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
3-6 years work experience in academic research lab, or equivalent educational experience with masters' degree or relevant undergraduate thesis project with one year experience
At least one year of research experience in a relevant area including: psychology, economics, business, public policy, organizational behavior, consumer behavior, with experience using a data analysis program such as R, SPSS, or SAS
General knowledge of social science research methods, statistics, and experimental studies with human subjects
Must possess strong managerial and organizational skills, with the ability to manager several concurrent tasks
Self-motivated, highly organized, conscientious, and good team player
Excellent communication, management, and administrative skills
Proficient in MS Office
Masters' degree in relevant field preferred
Research management and administration experience
High degree of proficiency in R
Experience using Qualtrics
Experience using participant management platforms such as MTurk and Prolific
Some experience training research interns
