Were growing, and we hope youll join us!About the PositionVHBs growing Mid-Atlantic Environmental Services team is looking for a mid-level Environmental Scientist to join our growing Natural Sciences Group in our Williamsburg or Richmond, Virginia offices.Responsibilities: Lead and manage wetland and stream delineationsSection 404/401 and state environmental permittingRare, threatened and endangered species surveysPlant identification and vegetation Inventory GPS-based field data collectionWriting and technical reporting Coordination with clients and regulators Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills within a team atmosphere Strong critical thinking, problem solving, planning and organization skills Solid technical writing and editing capabilities Ability to delineate wetlands and perform field science tasks both independently and while leading a team in remote field locations and/or in challenging weather conditionsAbility and willingness to travel on short notice, and/or on weekend shifts, and potentially for extended periods of time Ability to identify flora within the Mid-Atlantic region, using the Flora of Virginia and/or other technical keys/regional references.Steadfast commitment to quality, attention to detail, team oriented and flexibleAbility and willingness to perform field work including travel on short notice, overnight(s) and/or on weekend shifts, potentially for extended periods of timeQualifications:5+ years of experience in environmental science and natural resourcesS. in Environmental Science, Biology, Fisheries and Wildlife, Ecology, or Natural Resources Significant experience performing wetland delineations in accordance with USACE regulatory requirementsExtensive professional fieldwork experience in natural habitatsCandidates with professional certification(s) a plus (e.g., PWS, PWD)New employees will be onboarded virtually and begin their employment from home.
