/Summary: The R&D Formulation Chemist is responsible for all steps of formula development from ideation to final formulation. Primary responsibilities will be the innovation of new products, technology transfer and cost savings. He/she will need to demonstrate formulation and innovation skills in skin, hair, body and house hold.

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities. (enlarge space as needed)
Develop new innovative marketable products, revise/reformulate existing formulas and break down/ reverse engineer competitive products. Responsibilities include all as all aspects of development from stability to full production scale up. Initiate, develop and create innovative products to expand the R&D formulation library and enhance customer's presentations. Write, review and approve production batch procedures and monitor pilots and scale up batches. Research and initiate R&D cost savings to meet yearly goals. Continuous improvement of technical skills by participating in vendor seminars, classes and additional schooling in the cosmetic field. Special Projects and independent Research Work with QC to help trouble shooting production batches. Other responsibilities include research of raw materials, vendor management, stability testing/evaluation and product presentations. Formulation Chemists will be managing the development of multiple products simultaneously and should be comfortable in a fast paced multi-tasking environment. Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (minimum)

Education:
BS or MS in Chemistry or related degree; Biosciences (Biology, Botany, Biochemistry etc.) preferred.
Experience (years and topics):
1-3 years in cosmetic formulation/product development or related field Color matching experience (non-color-cosmetics) a plus OTC/Quasi Drug formulation experience a plus
Technology/Software (years):
Must be familiar with all basic cosmetic lab equipment including viscometer, pH meter, FTIR, and Moisture Analyzer. Must be PC literate and literate in Excel, Word and Power point, etc.
Communication:
Must have good communication skills (both verbal and written) Must have ability to work well under pressure
Physical Capabilities (add lines as needed)

Strength (lifting, dexterity, repetitive motion):
Must be able to lift 30-lbs onto waist high shelves Must be able to lift and carry a min of 25lbs.
Movement: Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight hour shift.

Hearing: Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud, distracting environment

Vision: Must be able to judge distance, identify details, and view computer screen regularly
