Aon is looking for a Director in Bloomington, MN
Primary Accountabilities
Support climate change model evaluation in Canada, the U.S., and Latin America
Monitor and assess the evolving landscape of 3rd party climate change assessment providers
Research the latest scientific hazard updates from IPCC, CMIP, IEA, and other inter-governmental climate research entities
Develop climate impact hazard maps for global clients
Create analytics to support regulatory climate-change disclosure requirements critical to maintain business activities across the U.S.
Partner with peril experts on Aon's model evaluation teams globally to provide consistency/enhance model evaluation for the Americas
Advise Impact Forecasting on model requirements and evaluate beta versions for all climate-conditioned event sets
Collaborate with client account leads across the Americas on strategies for introducing climate change solutions and impacts to insurance company clients
Qualifications
Demonstration of deep expertise on how climate change is impacting natural catastrophe perils such as hurricanes, wildfires, floods, droughts, etc… through related work experience and/or research
Up to date on CMIP5 and CMIP6 data structure and experience using local government or academic sources of climate change data with the ability to interact directly with climate change model outputs to create business-friendly content
Demonstrated ability to present technical information to a variety of audiences
2+ years of catastrophe modeling experience is a plus; experience with RMS and AIR is preferred
Additional experience in related climate change analytics positions is also preferred
ArcGIS, SQL, and R proficiency is required; Python, Tableau, and other BI software is a plus
Education
Degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences, geology, physics, or related fields. Advanced degree preferred.
Industry certifications a plus (ARe, CPCU, CCRMP, CCRA)
