OVERVIEW:
CHA Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to join our Infrastructure - Highway & Rail group in our Indianapolis, IN office.

Addressing the immediate travel needs and expectations of today's society and anticipating the mobility and modal challenges and opportunities that will accompany our next generation requires comprehensive planning, engineering and implementation. For over 60 years, CHA's transportation professionals have planned, developed and provided solutions to municipalities, metropolitan planning organizations, public and private authorities, and state transportation agencies. We also provide a full complement of construction administration and inspection services to monitor, record and deliver projects on time and on budget.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this key lead role at CHA, our Senior Scientists plan technically complex work varying in size and execute field investigations with a solid knowledge of proper sampling techniques. Our Scientists are masters at appropriately reviewing, evaluating and interpreting data, leading and developing materials for managers, colleagues, and clients; they are true advocates for company's standards for quality control and compliance. Our Scientists play an important role in reviewing background information for projects with critical thinking and understanding of the bigger picture, as well as directing and mentoring other scientists on the team.

Our Senior Scientists identify new project opportunities and assist with proposal development. Our Scientists also identify permitting strategies, prepare permit applications and regulations. Our Scientists oversee those who lead the preparation of large and complex environmental data sets, technical reports, and design tasks. Our Scientists also are leaders in the development of external presentations for clients, the public, regulatory agencies, etc.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related field

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 10 years related experience required

NEPA experience required

Experience conducting wetland delineations a plus

Experience preparing Section 401/404 permit applications a plus

Experience with stream and wetland restoration design a plus

Experience with Phase 1 Hazardous Materials investigations a plus

Has a proficient theoretical scientific knowledge

Experience with ArcMap or basic GIS Mapping required

Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel is required

Strong ability to work in a team environment

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Must have the ability to work in the field in different weather conditions

Must be able to physically navigate in the field

Valid US driver's license is required
