Overview:
This position assists the environmental manager and geologists with environmental field work as well as the preparation of environmental documentation for various projects.
Responsibilities:
Conduct literature research for environmental constraints of proposed projectsConduct fieldwork including:Wetland delineations according to USACE 1987 wetland delineation manual and recent updatesThreatened and endangered species surveys and habitat assessments according to USFWS protocolKarst Invertebrate survey experienceConduct socioeconomic and land use analyses for varied projectsComplete Indirect and Cumulative Impact AnalysesProduce map products and analysis as needed to support GIS exhibits for reportsPrepare environmental documentation, including Section 404 permits, Threatened and Endangered Species Survey Reports, NEPA documentation (CEs, EAs, and EISs)
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, Environmental Science or related field5-10 years' experience in conducting environmental field work and preparing environmental documentationExperience conducting research and analyses for NEPA documentation is desiredU.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Scientific Research permit in Texas and wetland delineation certificationExperience using a GPS unitProficient in MS Word, MS Excel and ArcGISAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentEffective communication skills both oral and writtenMust be dependable and reliableMust be flexible to work within the office hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday
