General Description: The Environmental Engineer is responsible for the consistent improvement of environmental compliance. The role is responsible for compliance and permitting associated with waste, wastewater, and many aspects of air compliance and permitting. The Environmental Engineer will create recommendations, training materials, and improvement plans to maintain a safe and compliant site. This role will be viewed as the Subject Matter Expert regarding Environmental Regulations.

Environmental Engineer Functional Role

  • Ensures EHS compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Responsible for permit compliance. permit modifications and renewal processes
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting compliance for all regulatory requirements
  • Ensures accurate and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reports
  • Maintain accurate records for inspections, regulatory investigations and compliance
  • Responsible for reviewing MOCs and emissions events for environmental compliance or impacts
  • Conduct site audits, inspections and investigations with internal and external regulatory agencies for in scope activities
  • Conduct Environmental Hazard Analyses with Operations and Process Safety
  • Track and report monthly metrics Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) as well as prepare technical progress reports on active projects and initiatives
  • Assist in sustaining the company's ISO9001 Quality Management System and the RC14001 Responsible Care Management System.

Drive a Culture of Continuous Improvement

  • Partners to drive continuous improvement of processes and operations for increased productivity and efficiency (Operational Excellence)
  • Actively participates in a culture of continuous improvement through collaborative engagement and by providing suggestions in meetings and trainings to improves processes and systems
  • Ensures work is accomplished through defined, measured, and continuously improved work processes; proactively identifies and leverages best practices developed across SI

Education and Experience:

  • Degree with an Engineering or Science major. Experience with environmental compliance and permitting in the air, water and waste medias.
