*How will you make an impact?*
The Sample Prep Research and Development group is a team of passionate individuals who are committed to making the world cleaner, healthier and safer by developing innovate solutions for research scientists. This role will be part of a team developing both Research Use Only (RUO) and In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) products and an opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will incorporate molecular biology experience and innovative thinking to develop tools/kits/reagents to speed up and ease the workload of scientists.

*What will you do?*

* Present findings to team and provide recommendations based on customer feedback and data generated.
* Will work with teams to apply technical knowledge and customer feedback to develop workflows for nucleic acid purification from biological sample types.
* Modify procedures to suit the needs of experiments.
* Develop a hypothesis, design and execute experiments to test the hypothesis with minimal guidance.
* Analyze the data derived and explain the outcome of their experiments.
* Maintain accurate and detailed lab notebooks and appropriate documentation based on the scientific method enabling scientists to reproduce their experiments.
* May assist in preparing material for manuals, articles for the newsletter, patents or publications.
* Prepares reports documenting experiments.
* Presents research data and conclusions in 10-30 minute sessions.
* Ability to read a scientific paper, reproduce the experiments described and understand the conclusions.
* Complete lab compliance activities.
*How will you get here?*
*Education*

* Bachelor's with 5 years of experience in Biological Science, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, infectious diseases or related field.
* Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
* At least 3 years of laboratory experience in an industry setting in a product development environment, required.

*Experience*

* Experience interviewing customers for Voice of the Customer feedback on products.
* Experience writing and implementing quality focused procedures.
* Experience in a clinical setting or CLIA certified laboratory.
* Experience with laboratory automation, different technologies to isolate nucleic acid.
* Experience with real time qPCR, preferred COVID-19 testing.

*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities*

* Strong interpersonal skills with outgoing personality.
* Strong laboratory and technical hands on skills required: Pipet and perform procedures reproducibly; perform a dilution series to create a standard curve; perform lab calculations needed to make solutions from powder or from stock solutions and able to make the buffers from recipes; operate basic lab equipment such as computers, centrifuges, quantitation instruments, Agilent Bioanalyzer, PCR, real-time qPCR instruments, plate readers etc; routine experience with most common molecular procedures such as nucleic acid isolation, endpoint PCR, real-time PCR…
* Solid understanding of word processing, spreadsheet programs, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis.
* Creative and innovative.
* Good writing & presentation skills.
* Strong documentation and strong organizational skills.
* Works well in a team setting.
* Capable of multi-tasking and ensure timely completion and execution of tasks.
* Pays attention to detail.
* Be agile with changing environments.
* Shows initiative by tackling tasks, beyond what is required.
* Encourages and co-ordinates people to achieve goals.
* Generates ideas to improve processes.
