The Mathematics and Science Division of Babson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the natural sciences beginning August 2022. The ideal candidate is an innovative educator who integrates multiple scientific disciplines into courses that explore complex problems and solutions related to environmental systems. The successful candidate must have a particular interest in teaching these topics to undergraduate business students. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in a natural science discipline with a strong connection to environmental science, climate science or energy systems. The ideal candidate must have an outstanding teaching record, an interest in and comfort with co-teaching, and proficiency with a variety of teaching modalities (e.g. in-person, hybrid, remote). The candidate's field of research should complement the expertise of our science faculty group, which currently includes: plant ecology, physics education, molecular biology, biogeochemistry, and biophysics. The candidate must have an active research agenda and effectively demonstrate that it can be carried out with Babson's existing laboratory facilities and/or collaborative arrangements with other institutions. In addition, the applicant must have strong personal communication skills and exhibit a desire to engage with the Babson community to provide both divisional and college-wide service.

Teaching responsibilities will vary and may include the foundation science courses (multi-science discipline courses with hands-on labs) and co-teaching the intermediate Socio-Ecological Systems courses, which pair a natural scientist with a social scientist to teach integrated sustainability and systems thinking. Please see: https://www.babson.edu/academics/academic-divisions/math-and-science/course-listings/ for information on our current Natural Science and Technology core courses (specifically NST 1020, 1060, and 1070 and NST 2011, 2012, 2080, and 2090) and the Science elective courses. Opportunities to develop new foundational, intermediate, or upper level elective courses in the area of the candidate's expertise exist. The anticipated initial teaching load is 4-5 sections per academic year. Faculty with previous experience and potential pre-tenure credit are encouraged to apply.

Application Submission:
