Sr Scien Control Env Plan Physiologist

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Scientist Control Environment Plant Physiologist, are to:

  • Lead the design of plant biology innovations and solve critical challenges in the areas of genome and reproductive systems;
  • Be responsible for research design, execution, and analysis to enable high quality data-driven decisions;
  • Organize, document, and report research outcomes in a timely manner;
  • Be responsible to partner with patent science to capture Intellectual Property (IP) and secure FTO for novel concepts;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to develop new concepts, and implement research outcomes across global regions and/or multiple crops;
  • Provide project leadership and accountable to share technical expertise through matrix relationships;
  • Make progress towards key project milestones while communicating timely status updates and any challenges or revisions to planned next steps;
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve actively to optimize research procedures;
  • Travel limited to regional sites, business meetings, and external conferences to develop business relationships and understanding of leading-edge technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science with at least 10 years of relevant experience, OR Master of Science with at least 8 years of relevant experience, OR Ph.D. with at least four years of relevant experience in Plant physiology, plant development and horticulture;
  • Ability to conduct research and contributes to research projects, technologies, publications, intellectual property, or trade secrets;
  • Possess specialized knowledge in relevant technology area;
  • Independently identify research opportunities in assigned areas;
  • Ability to identify opportunities for technical innovation;
  • Ability to align core competencies with business objectives;
  • Ability to conduct multiple complex scientific projects;
  • Effectively communicate study findings internally and externally;
  • Ability to design strategies to optimize product development and technical innovation;
  • Demonstrate creativity in problem-solving;
  • Ability to apply state-of-the-art know-how to solve complex problems;
  • Ability to align research activities with team goals;
  • Ability to mentor peers/colleagues in areas of expertise;
  • Ability to identify and implement new technologies to continuously improve processes;
  • Demonstrate an expanded sphere of technical influence;
  • Ability to align activities to broad business objectives;
  • Ability to foster team based approach to research;
  • Ability to interact with colleagues in other functions and other departments to solve problems;
  • Research expertise in applied controlled environment plant physiology;
  • Research expertise in assay development and system improvement related to improving plant performance and understanding the biological mechanisms of plant and environment interaction;
  • Experience working with crops such as corn, soybean, or other plants in laboratory, controlled environment;
  • Strong track record of publications and experience with patent search and writing patent applications.
