We are seeking an experienced creative and quantitative professional to lead the Monitoring & Evaluation for the California Sustainable Energy Entrepreneur Development Initiative (CalSEED). Administering nearly $40M, the CalSEED program funds clean energy entrepreneurs across California and is expected to grant awards to over 200 entrepreneurs by 2027. Each entrepreneur is creating a positive impact in the world - from increasing access to clean energy technology, reducing electricity costs to creating jobs and increasing the safety and reliability of our electric grid.

This is where you come in. Building on existing tools including templates, an established database, and reporting formats, we are looking for someone who will play a pivotal role within the CalSEED team and who will contribute significantly to New Energy Nexus-wide evaluation and learning goals. The individual in this role will guide and oversee all aspects of CalSEEDs impact and reporting requirements and manage impact evaluations, design and facilitate learning within the team and with partners. The Impact & Reporting manager will conduct data analysis, prepare data visuals and brief reports, communicate results, and ensure our ability to continue to track progress on core deliverables, as well as iterate upon on existing high-impact metrics to inform our reporting, storytelling and general strategic communication efforts within and beyond CalSEED. This role requires a creative and incisive evaluation strategist who is comfortable designing impact measurement and monitoring & evaluation frameworks for complex, non-linear strategies.

The Impact & Reporting Manager will work closely with everyone on our small, tight-knit team to evaluate, strengthen, grow, and evolve the CalSEED initiative while assuring the timely completion of funding reporting requirements. The ideal candidate is passionate about clean energy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and understands multiple social and economic benefits of clean energy and the potential for social equity outcomes that can result from scaling new clean energy technology. She/he/they finds joy in bringing clarity to complexity and excels at helping others do their best work.
