What You Will Be Doing

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Process Development, you will lead process development efforts within GMP drug substance manufacturing of clinical- and early-stage vaccines that are based on self-amplifying mRNA (SAM) formulated in LNP.

Responsibilities
  • Continually seek and evaluate new potential technologies for rapid production and purification of plasmids and self-amplifying mRNA (SAM)
  • Contribute to current automation efforts and idea generation
  • Lead process improvements toward closed-system, commercial compliant processes, and reduced COGs
  • Advise on current and new in-house GMP facility selection, design, and layout
  • Perform quant modelling
  • Lead process engineering efforts
  • Conduct lean analysis
  • Handle process device design, creation, and implementation
  • Lead FMEA and RCA efforts for all departments
  • Lead Tracking and Trending
  • Support process optimization and in-process testing guidance
  • Write technical reports
  • Work with project management to develop engineering timelines
  • Help with budget generation and management
  • Work closely with our viral vector manufacturing process development team
Additional Cross-functional Opportunities
  • Assist legal with Intellectual Property (IP) claims
  • Assist Corporate Development to support contracts and more
  • Support Regulatory Affairs
What You Need for this Position
  • MS/MA or PhD in Chemical, Bio-Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related
  • 6+ years' experience in vaccines or biologics required, preferably in industry leading teams and/or projects
  • Expertise in plasmid production and/or mRNA production highly desired
  • Automation experience with lab equipment highly desired
  • Up to 15% travel required
