Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a successful candidate to develop, grow, and execute Stantec's Canadian federal account management strategy as part of our overall corporate business plan. The Federal Program Leader (FPL) will be responsible for the success, growth, and implementation of our comprehensive Government of Canada account management strategy. As an active partner in Stantec's collaborative model, the Federal Program Leader is an outstanding communicator, and works in close collaboration with other federal account managers, regional business leaders, as well as Stantec's team of architects, engineers, environmental scientists and project managers across Canada.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for Net Revenue growth while maintaining organic growth and working with our acquisitions team to identify, evaluate and integrate potential acquisitions.
  • Lead the national account management strategy and deliverables for the program internally within Stantec.
  • Be the ambassador for Stantec's brand across and within federal government branches and increase relationship building externally with key federal contacts
  • Responsible for business development and winning of strategic pursuits, excellence in delivery of professional services, and business compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to other federal Account Managers and Business Lines in identification and pursuit of opportunities, which includes providing critical input into proposals and contracts.
  • Drive Federal Regulatory Compliance by working with Federal Contracts Team (FCT) to maintain ongoing compliance with applicable standards, as well as provide proactive leadership to foresee necessary organizational challenges related to compliance.
  • Lead strategic planning processes to increase the proportional share of Net Revenue to the organization, considering internal and external challenges and opportunities.
  • Drive strategic initiatives to permit continued program evolution and identify underutilized or underdeveloped federal avenues and implement plans to address gaps with leadership team and account managers.
  • Facilitate discussions with executive leadership on program status and organization evolution to support program growth.
  • Identify risk management and mitigation strategies and support operational groups to address execution challenges that may inhibit growth.
  • Help develop a strategic staffing plan focusing on key hires needed to grow our presence in the key markets.

Qualifications

  • Achievement oriented with proven success in financial management, people leadership and business development skills with an entrepreneurial orientation, including experience negotiating, building, and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.
  • Hold existing relationships with key federal government departments, branches, and procurement officials; in addition to relationships with key industry partners, consultants and/or general construction firms
  • Understand the procurement and sales cycles of the Canadian federal government as well as navigating funding and spending trends
  • Understand large, complex alternative procurement and delivery project models (IPD, P3, Alliance, Design-Build, and others).
  • Ability to attract and retain talented professionals and build a high performing team.
  • The strengths, experience, and drive to effectively lead, challenge, and inspire the leadership group and staff to work together cohesively as a team on federal pursuits and client development.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Success driven, enthusiastic, collaborative, and possess the highest degree of integrity.
  • Ability to travel as needed

Education and Experience

Minimum 15 years of experience working directly within the Canadian Federal market including leading large federal government project pre-positioning. Also have proven, pre-existing relationships within one or more Federal Agencies is required. Examples include but are not limited to, Parks Canada, National Defence, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC).

Extensive leadership experience is also required with the ability to manage large teams across multiple sectors. A university degree in a professional discipline or program management field is also an asset.
