Job Description
Our Jacksonville Ship Repair site is looking to add a SHE Specialist II - Environmental to the team! The SHE Specialist II - Environmental works as part of the site SHE team and provides environmental program expertise and compliance support with a focus on activities related to hazardous materials/waste, air quality, water quality/stormwater, industrial wastewater, SPCC/oil transfer, facility inspections, emergency response, training and other similar environmental functions.

Working under the direction of the site Environmental Manager, the SHE Specialist II - Environmental (SSE) will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an Environmental Management System (EMS) that includes a myriad of activities and responsibilities pertaining to the effective deployment of environmental programs. The SSE will act as a liaison with local, state and federal agencies and customers. The SSE will develop and implement programs to ensure regulatory compliance obligations are fulfilled in a cost-effective manner and that environmental risks are effectively managed. Data collection, analysis, and preparation of related environmental reports is a major work activity. Work includes communicating requirements to site employees, contractors, and customers. Specific focus areas include air quality permitting and emissions data management, stormwater/NPDES/Industrial discharge programs, hazardous materials/waste management, over-water transfer of oil, and regulatory submission of reports and data for these and similar other environmental media. Some supervisorial responsibilities for work activities conducted by small team of other SHE professionals and other related job duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Sustainability, Biology, Chemistry or other physical/biological sciences
8+ years environmental experience
4 years of advanced report writing and high-volume data entry experience
Significant knowledge of Florida and federal laws and regulations relating to environmental matters
Advanced computer-based skills (including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point)
Advanced ability to analyze, compare and interpret data
Experience coordinating complex projects/regulatory action
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to discuss/present technical information to junior and senior leadership
Ability to interact effectively with diverse workforce and customers
Able to coordinate multiple priorities in fast-paced environment with little oversight or supervision
Good organizational skills
Self-motivated and fast-learner
Demonstrated attention to detail
Ability to obtain DBIDS for access to DoD facilities
Valid FL driver's license

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Masters degree in environmental engineering/science, sustainability, biology, chemistry or other related discipline.

Environmental program experience in general manufacturing or defense contracting.

40-hour HAZWOPER and annual 8-Hour refresher training.

Initial and annual refresher training in hazardous waste management (RCRA).

Knowledge in ISO 14001, including experience in auditing of requirements.

Relevant professional certifications.

Maritime experience.
