ERM is seeking a motivated Product Stewardship and Environmental Compliance Consultant, who is interested in participating on a variety of projects covering a wide spectrum of ERM's services, to join our consulting firm in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers on product stewardship projects (initially focused on U.S. FDA Product Environmental Assessments under NEPA) and environmental compliance projects that align with your education and/or experience. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for clients in the pharmaceutical, tobacco, technology, chemical, manufacturing, and consumer products sectors. This position will have access to ERM's national Product Stewardship and Performance & Assurance experts that provide knowledge sharing of best practices across the industry and ongoing learning opportunities for our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical assistance and develop into a 'process leader' to deliver Product Environmental Assessment reports for multiple clients. As a 'process leader', you will lead preparation and contribute to preparing Product Environmental Assessment deliverables and related activities.
  • Provide Product Environmental Assessment project support to clients, including on-site assistance, as needed.
  • Conduct desk-based research and analysis of client information, and synthesize the findings and information into key themes and conclusions (or narrative) to utilize in Environmental Assessment reports.
  • Compile, manage, and evaluate data and assist in report preparation and other project delivery activities.
  • Support Project Managers to manage multiple projects within client's scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Provide technical assistance and contribute to other product stewardship and sustainability services, NEPA environmental assessment projects, and related activities in support of our clients' projects.
  • Provide technical support on environmental regulatory compliance in such areas as air quality, wastewater and stormwater management, and solid waste management.
  • Perform environmental compliance assessments and support client's with implementing follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform Phase I environmental site assessments to support our client's environmental due diligence projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, biology, or related scientific discipline.
  • Recent graduate to 3 years of experience.
  • Product stewardship, environmental regulatory, and ecological toxicity experience or education a plus.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience writing detailed technical reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface effectively with multiple levels of consulting staff and client personnel.
  • Able to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and understand/analyze information, and synthesize the findings and information into a narrative.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Local candidates preferred.
