We have an exceptional opportunity for a Health Safety Environmental Leader to join a 100+ year old division of a $4B diversified global company with 16,000 employees producing materials for a variety of industries. They supply the Aerospace, Automotive, Metals manufacturing, Chemicals manufacturing, Nuclear, Rail Transport, Solar, and Oil / Gas industries. You will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental permits and regulations with primary focus being safety, waste water, storm water, wildlife, hazardous waste and disposal site regulations. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Previous experience in chemical, refining, pulp/paper or mining operations is highly valued.
  • Experienced with environmental permitting and/or RCMS audits.
  • Must have experience working with/ negotiating with governmental agencies
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Possess strong project management skills
  • Knowledge of Responsible Care Management System is a plus
  • Professional certifications such as CIH, CSP, CHMM, PE are a plus.
  • An advanced degree is a plus.


Job Requirements:

Duties / Tasks

  • Maintains knowledge of OSHA Safety, Occupational Health and EPA regulations
  • Administer HAZMAT program
  • Provide regulatory oversight and support for the hazardous waste program.
  • Conducts internal audits
  • Develop Emergency Preparedness Plan for site.
  • Remain current with environmental regulations and technology
  • provide support and consultation to operating areas and plant management.
  • Provide technical input to project design to avoid or mitigate adverse environmental effects
  • Help prepare and conduct Safety, Security, Health and Environmental (SSHE) training.
  • Identify cost effective solutions for technical and regulatory environmental issues.
  • Performs onsite waste assessments
  • Lead internal audit teams, prepare reports and track project completion.
  • Participate in incident investigation, mitigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Manage agency reporting and programs to achieve compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and submit reports to various agencies as required.
  • Submit applications for new and revised permits.
  • Ensure sample collections and reports are completed on a timely basis.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with regulators and participate in facility inspections.
  • Compile, track, analyze and report analytical data.
  • Participate in audits, inspections and other regulatory compliance assurance activities.
