Bio-Techne and all of its brands provides tools for researchers in Life Sciences and Clinical Diagnostics. Position Summary: Bio-Techne is seeking a highly motivated and creative Scientist to join one of our Protein Development teams. In this position, you will lead improvements for current products as well as developments for new products. You will evaluate these new technologies in order to improve processes and the identification of novel applications for the department. This position requires the ability to work on extremely complex problems, where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Key Responsibilities: Design and perform complex experiments to improve existing products and/or develop new products Investigate and identify new research areas and technologies to support further product development Identify and propose new product specifications and new projects or products needed in the field Train and mentor others in the lab Gather and analyze data in order to draw conclusions and determine next steps for future experimentation Create and write work instructions and standard operating procedures Collaborate cross-functionally to lead multi-department projects and further product development across Bio-Techne Follow guidelines and comply with all company safety, quality, and training procedures and regulations Perform additional duties as assigned QualificationsEducation and Experience: Ph.D. in a related field and up to 5 years of relevant experience is required Or, Master's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) and 8-10 years of experience is required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must demonstrate an extensive knowledge in field of expertise Must have demonstrated ability to create new products Must have the ability to analyze complex data and results in order to draw conclusions Must demonstrate leadership in training other lab members and leading projects cross-functionally Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills Must have the ability to identify and define process improvement procedures Must have demonstrated ability to work independently on complex projects and determine priorities for self and others Desired Skills and background:
Experience in RNA production processesExperience in developing molecular biology-based enzymatic assaysFamiliarity with development and execution of reporter assaysKnowledge of bioinformatic softwareKnowledge of structural biology/protein modeling and related softwareBasic coding skills in Ruby or Python
