Position Overview
The Assay Integration and Informatics group is part of the Molecular Research and Innovation group at Adaptive. We are focused on creating innovative computational and biological solutions for genomic assays, expanding the depth of Adaptive's toolkit, and the breadth of treatable diseases. The Assay Integration and Informatics group works with wet-lab scientists and software engineers to create robust, analytically consistent molecular assays, methods, and tools that integrate across Adaptive.
The Assay Integration and Informatics group is seeking a Manager Computational Biology with detailed understanding of data analysis, statistical modeling, molecular design and data management. This role will involve taking the lead on cross-functionally projects with wet lab scientists, and software engineers across Adaptive in support of various research and innovation projects. In this role, the Manager Computational Biology will develop people management skills that will allow them to build and lead a small team of Computational Biologists.
You will join a highly collaborative Computational Biology group that conducts analyses to support key decisions within the company and creates innovative solutions. Responsibilities
Manage a small team of computational biologists responsible for providing analysis, data management, experimental design, and troubleshooting of immune sequencing data
Collaborate with wet lab scientists to understand their data analysis needs and to create innovative solutions to molecular assay design and data analysis
Collaborate with Software Engineering to build and modify bioinformatic pipelines for immune sequencing data.
Present results to a wide variety of stakeholders (wet lab scientists, software engineers, executive team, etc.)
Be a problem solver: communicate well, ask questions, proactively eliminate bottlenecks, and be the person people go to when they want a job done right
Requirements
Graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or related field
4+ years (PhD) or 6+ years (Master's) of post-degree experience in molecular biology, genetics, statistical modeling or similar
Experience overseeing or supervising others on a team
Proficiency in at least one common coding language (R, python, etc.) maintained under version control (git, bitbucket)
High level of attention to technical details and accuracy
Demonstrated ability to manage, prioritize, and delegate multiple requests and priorities
Preferred
Experience leading a team on multidisciplinary research
Solid understanding of multiplex PCR assay design and data analysis
Experience with experimental design and analysis of -omics data
Understand project management methodologies, OKR goals setting, and be capable of providing technical leadership for projects
Experience working in a molecular biology lab, or working closely with wet lab scientists on data generation and analysis
Experience working with relational databases
