The Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) is recruiting to fill a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, with preference for a candidate that has an established interest in Environmental Health studies. We seek someone with a strong academic record to join our Biostatistics Division of over 20 faculty and to contribute to our active research and educational programs. Central to the mission of the Division are the development of novel statistical methods, collaboration with other research groups in our Department of Preventive Medicine, and education of the next generation of biostatisticians. We prefer someone that is interested in both developing novel statistical methods and in leading statistical analyses as part of a collaborative team, although those with primary focus in either methods development or collaborative research will also be considered.

We seek an applicant with a demonstrated interest in Environmental Health studies, including, but not limited to, statistical methods and/or applications related to environmental epidemiology, respiratory health, cardiovascular health, and/or cancer. Exposures of ongoing interest in our department include air pollution, tobacco smoke, alcohol, pesticides, metals, and diet, as well as various ‘omic' indicators exposure. The study of genetic and genomic interactions with environmental risk factors is also interest in our department. In addition to developing and applying methods to the analysis of complex traits, faculty in our Division also direct statistical cores as parts of large Centers, including our Cancer Center, Environmental Health Center, and Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Our Division administers Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Biostatistics and Epidemiology, and a new M.S. in Data Science. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in teaching activities.

The Department of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine includes over 100 faculty members in six Divisions and consistently ranks as the top funded public health-related department within a U.S. medical school.
