Environmental Health and Safety Manager

OVERVIEW

From the solitary launch passenger, to the largest corporate accounts, our prime objective is customer satisfaction through our "can-do" attitude. For Miller's Launch, there is no such thing as after-hours. We serve the port of the Tri-State Area 24 hours a day, providing prompt response and stellar marine support.

Miller's Launch's marine professionals and top-notch equipment will assure the success of your task. Our personnel are federally licensed operators, certified welders, custom fabricators and fully trained and certified pollution and environmental specialists. Miller's Launch operates a fleet of about 70 pieces of floating equipment including but not limited to: offshore supply vessels, tug boats, crew boats, utility boats, launch boats, small work boats, rib boats, roll on roll off systems, barges and cranes.

Miller's Launch isn't just supply boats, tug boats or launch boats we adapt to our clients needs and wants. From moving heavy equipment or trucks on and off islands, to offshore wind support, emergency oil spill response, to film/photo/drone shoots and productions.

POSITION:

Millers Launch Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time position as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and documentation of wide spread safety, health and environmental policies for the company. This individual will be responsible for the company's compliance with local, state, federal and international laws and regulations pertaining to safety, health and environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintains an awareness of the environment and the potential for hazards and ensures company- wide compliance.

· Assumes a leadership role in supporting and participating in continuous improvement activities for the company.

· Manages the accident/incident investigation and corrective action process.

· Serves as a lead auditor and designated person ashore.

· Documents training as required under Osha and USCG regulations and assuring compliance with governmental agencies and company safety policies and procedures.

· Provides training and leadership for all functional managers, supervisors and team members regarding rules, regulations and safe work practices mandated by any and all local, state and federal agencies.

· Participates in the review of existing and planned purchase of all equipment used on company property to insure adequate safe guards are incorporated, along with assurance that the company remains in compliance with OSHA and other regulating agencies.

· Assess risks and identify hazards in the workplace to create a safe and healthy environment.

· Knowledge of safety systems and marine operations.

· Organize, identify and complete permits pertaining to health and safety, such as environmental permits, fire safety permits, and operating permits.

· Provides corporate oversight of company's global EH&S and Risk Management programs and policies.

· Experience with management of change systems preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

· Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university with major in Environmental, Health and Safety with five (5) years of experience preferred

· Candidate must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Card or ability to obtain one.

· Candidate must possess a valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.

· CET/CSP a plus.

· Good working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, NYS DEC, USCG, SOLAS and IMO regulations

· Knowledge of regulatory requirement safety issues, precautions and potential hazards in the marine industry.

· Offshore Wind Experience a plus

· CPR First Aid and AED trainer.

· OSHA 10hr/30hr) /Maritime and Hazwoper Trainer

· Potential candidate will possess excellent people skills to include above average communication skills, both written and verbal. Candidate must also possess an outgoing personality, eager to interact with all levels within the company.

· Participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses and property damage incidents. Ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained.

· Knowledge and experience within maritime industry required with a focus on U.S. and international passenger vessel, supply vessel and tug regulatory requirements (Sub-T, I, L, M, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW and ISM Code) desired.

· Strong leadership skills with ability to influence senior management team across business units.

· Excellent computer skills using E-mails, Internet, Access, Word, and Excel.

· Candidate must possess ability to travel 10% of the year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis, depending on project

· Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently

· Ability to carry, push/pull and/or lift materials weighing at least 25 lbs

· Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely

· Ability to manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform job

· Ability to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within a vessel, as applicable Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job

· Must be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel's station bill when onboard a vessel
