Overview:
Sealaska Technical Services (STS), LLC is seeking a part-time, on-call Natural Resource Project Manager/Wetland Scientist to support our growing federal and commercial business operations. STS is a growing, progressive business that provides environmental consulting, technology integration and deployment, systems engineering, environmental monitoring, and construction management services to a variety of governmental and commercial clients at job sites located around the world. Our federal contract requires a US citizenship and residency within the US.The successful candidate will have strong Project Management skills to support projects in inland environments. We are looking for a candidate with experience in natural resource management, and wetland studies, with experience working for federal and state agencies.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include leading a wetland team, training and managing wetland assessment fieldwork, preparing reports, reviewing technical repots, consulting with regulatory agencies, and project management. Conduct field wetland functional assessments to describe soils, flora, and wetland and hydrology indicators.Train junior staff in wetland assessment methods and the WET (Wetland Evaluation Technique), developed originally for nationwide use by the Federal Highway Administration in the early 1980s and used widely by federal agencies for assessing the functions of wetlands.Provide technical leadership of client-focused teams including mentoring junior staffMaintain a current knowledge of recent advancements in the field for application on existing and proposed projects and relays to the organizationSupport the development of proposals including the technical approach, budgets and schedule.This position is expected to support the STS Environmental Program Manager in preparing, reviewing and producing complex technical documents in a timely manner.Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:A minimum of a Masters degree in a biological science or closely related fieldAt least five years of progressively responsible experience in natural resource managementMinimum of three years of experience in environmental consulting or working within environmental agenciesStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality written reports and presentationsWorking knowledge of the Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual (Environmental Laboratory, 1987)Field experience describing soils, flora, and wetland and hydrology indicators; especially with conducting wetland functional assessmentsDemonstrated successful relationships with clients and regulatory agenciesCalifornia Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) training in one or more areas is a plusAbility to create and edit technical documents.Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is requiredAdditional Requirements:Position is subject to satisfactory completion of a background check, reference check, physical exam and urine analysis.
