The Industrial Hygiene Technician is a multi-faceted role and will work on a wide variety of commercial and industrial environmental projects. As an IH Tech, you will investigate sites, diagnose, and report on the cause/effect of various environmental contaminants. Your focus is on the proper identification, mitigation and resolutions of a wide range of hazards that will positively influence the health and safety of our client's environments. We are seeking an individual with 1 - 3 years of experience in performing traditional air monitoring, water and mold sampling, lead paint investigations, mitigation oversight and management, indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments, noise surveys, OSHA monitoring, etc. The successful candidate will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects on an effective and efficient schedule, working with senior staff, and providing field oversight on a variety of projects. The Industrial Hygienist Technician will work under the supervision of a Senior Industrial Hygienist when performing all but routine field tasks. The Senior Industrial Hygiene team will provide additional training and guidance to help expand the Technician's capabilities.Core ResponsibilitiesInvestigate interesting commercial/industrial environments including those symptomatic of "sick building syndrome"Study patterns of environmental injury and identify where the problem originates from and make recommendations to remediate/resolveDetermine potential causes of a variety of suspicious odors, damp/moisture/vapor-like sources, gather samples and analyze resultsPerform and/or assist with inspections/assessments, building material sampling, water sampling, odor investigations, and/or air monitoring related to IHBS.Draft reports for review/revision by senior personnel.Position RequirementsEducation and ExperienceBachelors Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Environmental Science or similar. Field Experience in Industrial Hygiene or environmental sampling is a plus.Additional certifications/licenses for other services, including New York State Asbestos Inspector, New York State Asbestos Project Monitor, Asbestos Project Designer, Asbestos Management Planner, New York State Mold Assessor, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, and other environmental services is a plus.Knowledge & SkillsKnowledge of USEPA, NESHAP and AHERA regulations as well as New York and New Jersey regulations, and guidance documents.Able/willing to use Personal Protective Equipment, including the use of respirators.Able to participate in medical surveillance including respirator fit testing, and vaccinations. The ability to prepare clear, concise oral and written reports.The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and to maintain harmonious internal and external relationships.Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting and/or data entry.Familiarity with email applications such as Microsoft Outlook.Familiarity with cloud-based computing products for reporting, filing, and other job responsibilities. SpecialSafe Driving Record.Ability to travel regionally between 80% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs.
