Overview & Essential Job Functions:
Position Summary:The Environmental Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for helping to ensure that Athens Services hauling operations and material recovery facilities (MRFs) are compliant with all applicable local, state and federal laws, as well as other governmental agency rules and regulations. This position will provide administrative support in the development and maintenance of critical environmental regulatory programs and permits at all facilities. The Coordinator will report directly to the Environmental Compliance Manager. Essential Job Functions:Ensure compliance with programs such as solid waste, storm water and air quality permits, DOT transportation, hazardous materials business plans, pollution prevention and spill plans including program training.Obtains, administers and tracks all environmental permits.Serve as a contact for regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting, reporting (air, water, waste).May conduct internal onsite audits/site inspections/ training to ensure compliance with permits and programs.File appropriate compliance reports as required by permit and respond to regulatory agencies requests and notices.Evaluate the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment to identify occupational hazards, develop job hazard analyses, and recommend plans and programs for resolving any issues identified.Keep current with any environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.Complete application packages (varies from online forms to hardcopies with supporting documentation binders) for new permits and renewals.

Qualifications & Environmental Demands:
Required Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, or other related field with applicable training, or applicable experience.1-2 years of experience in a comparable role.Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office applications and Excel.Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities.Superior analytical/problem solving, written and verbal communications.Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.Required Qualifications:Experience working with state or local regulatory agencies.Knowledge of regulatory requirements.Experience in solid waste or transportation industry.Physical/Environmental Demands:Physical:Oral/Written communication, analytical abilities, calculating, problem solving.Walking, standing, & sitting.Data entry and report writing.Environmental:Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, noise, chemicals occasionally.Exposure to outside elements (hot/cold/rain conditions) occasionally.Walking on potential slippery surfaces occasionally.Works inside and outside.
