About the opportunity
SWCA Environmental Consultants is actively seeking a Minnesota Area Business Lead. The position will support projects throughout Minnesota and Surrounding Area; and clients representing diverse sectors including energy generation and transmission, oil and gas, and local and federal governments. The ideal candidate will possess strong Minnesota Generation and Transmission experience, preferably experience in permitting and NEPA. SWCA is growing in Minnesota and is looking for the right candidate to take on some existing projects and help build our presence.
What you will accomplish
As a core member of the Rocky Mountain Plains leadership team, you will:
* Take a lead role in developing business along multiple markets and services within the Minnesota area.
* Successfully win and execute contracts, while leading all aspects of project implementation which will include staffing, fieldwork, research, report writing and QA/QC Review.
* Manage projects and oversee staff managing projects within Minnesota area to ensure profitability and client success.
* Develop opportunities with existing and new clients, and lead pursuits through proposal.
* Collaborate with other SWCA offices/managers on both technical and business development efforts throughout the company.
* Expand SWCA's professional reputation in natural and cultural resources management and research throughout Minnesota and beyond.
Experience and qualifications for success
* A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in biology, botany, wildlife management, or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred
* A minimum of fifteen (15) years of industry and consulting experience on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies
* A minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing projects, including developing and implementing budgets, schedules, and scopes of work
* Existing relationships with utility providers and developers in the region, as well as, partnerships with local AE Firms in Minneapolis.
* Experience with implementing NEPA, ESA, and/or CWA permitting processes Possess advanced skills and knowledge in one or more specialty scientific areas (e.g., keying rare plants, conducting protocol surveys for special-status species, etc.) Has completed all aspects of a project, from pre-field tasks to final report preparation for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies Prior primary report authorship in a natural resources consulting context for a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies Provides QA/QC review of field documents, site forms, and reports Leads large or multiple crews on a variety of project types and sizes, regions, and agencies
* Conducts numerous agency consultations in support of project permitting with utility companies and developers.
