The Center for Drug Discovery (CDD) is a multi-disciplinary center comprised of biologists and chemists who work together to discover new therapeutics in a non-profit setting. CDD is seeking a Biologist to conduct in vitro laboratory experiments to support its drug discovery efforts. In this role, you will routinely perform multiple types of cell-based experimental assays in support of ongoing research projects and contracts. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in high throughput screening (HTS) efforts for drug discovery. Responsibilities: * Run in vitro cell-based experiments to determine the activity of novel compounds. * Culture mammalian cell lines for use in the laboratory. * Perform radioligand binding experiments in cell and tissue membranes. * Develop experimental assays and methods as needed to support projects. * Use automated liquid handling equipment to run HTS campaigns and replicate compound libraries. * Manage compound databases to support drug development. * Occasionally assist with in vivo studies in rodents. * Assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts, funding applications, and other documents. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in biology, pharmacology or a related field, or * Master's degree with 1+ years of experience in biology, pharmacology or a related field. * Experience with cell-based experiments in a 96- or 384- well plate format. * Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques. * Experience with molecular biology techniques. * Demonstrated writing, presentation, communication, organizational, and planning skills with attention to detail. * Excellent knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, GraphPad Prism, and Outlook. Preferred: * Experience working with rodents * Knowledge of pharmacology and medicinal chemistry #LI-BM1
