POSITION SUMMARY:

Promotes worksite safety and environmental compliance by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws. Provides management with guidance while defining EHS goals and objectives, and helps develop and maintain the Safety Training

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain all required written safety plans and records, e.g., emergency action, workstation risk assessments, PPE assessments, hazard communication, hearing conservation, lockout tagout, confined space, elevated work, hot work, electrical, blood-borne pathogens
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is conducted in a safe manner according to company programs, policies, procedures and systems in compliance with local, state, federal and contractor/third party health and safety requirements
  • Coordinate a hazard assessment and monitoring program for measuring and documenting employee exposures
  • Ensure that all site personnel are properly trained in the appropriate safety requirements for the job they are performing
  • Drive management system designed to ensure that safety is incorporated into all aspects of operation and company culture
  • Promote open reporting and employee participation for correcting of all safety incidents or concerns
  • Perform safety investigations, audits, inspections and drills
  • Execute preventative and corrective actions
  • Compile required safety performance metric data for OSHA log and internal reporting
  • Manage plant waste disposal strategy and diversion efforts
  • Secure environmental permitting and compliance to terms and conditions
  • Lead sustainability efforts and company initiatives to minimize environmental impact
  • Evaluate proposed projects to ensure plans are in place and implemented to address compliance issues, e.g., management of change
  • Initiate capital projects for critical facility infrastructure, environmental impact and safety programs
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives
  • Design and develop department human resource structure to match company growth
  • Facilitate injured employee recovery and return to work process
  • Manage workman's comp and accident insurance claims

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or equivalent
  • Certified Safety Professional or 10 year's experience as EH&S manager may be substitute for B.S.
  • Minimum of 5 years in EH&S experience with at least 2 years in plant manufacturing operations
  • Strong leadership and training ability
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

COMPENSATION
  • 100-130K based on experience + full benefits + unlimited PTO + matching 401K
