Postdoctoral Researcher in metabolism and nutrient receptor biology
Job Description Research Description
A Post-Doctoral Researcher position is available at the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University to study the role of chemosensory receptors in metabolism using genetic mouse models and cellular/molecular mechanisms in an interdisciplinary research setting involving translational opportunities. Supported NIH, NIFA and institutional funds, our group is investigating how nutrient-sensing GPCRs regulate integrative metabolism and nutrient signaling in skeletal muscle, gastrointestinal track and other tissues. Emphasis is placed on understanding how nutrient receptors contribute to the development of cardiometabolic diseases and age-related disuse.
Training environment
The Kyriazis Lab is formally affiliated with the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center (DMRC) that includes a multidisciplinary team of researchers (basic scientists, clinicians and surgeons) with broad expertise in metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Our lab implements direct bench-to-bedside approaches in collaboration with DMRC investigators. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will get ample training opportunities in molecular and animal integrative metabolism and exposure to state-of-the-art techniques (metabolomics, genomics, animal metabolic phenotyping, molecular biology and cell signaling, etc.). The training program also involves institute-wide postdoctoral seminars, career workshops and opportunities to interact with nationally recognized scientists in metabolism.
Requirements
We seek highly committed and motivated candidates that have a Ph.D. and or M.D. with a strong background and technical skills in mouse physiology including methods in cell-signaling, gene regulation and molecular/cell biology. Documented experience in muscle biology or immunology is highly preferred. Qualified candidates may also be supported by a T32 Postdoctoral training grant in Cardiometabolic Science. Applicants should submit a cover letter including research accomplishments and interests, CV and names of at least three (3) references.
