The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. Position Summary
The Athens Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory ( AVDL ) invites applications for a full-time Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist with a keen interest in performing necropsies and is service-minded. This is a tenure-track or clinical track position in a fully accredited diagnostic laboratory and NAHLN member.
Additional Requirements
Pathology board certification or eligibility and a DVM degree or equivalent are required.

To be considered at the Assistant Professor level (tenure-track or clinical track), candidates should show promise of moving toward excellence in diagnostic anatomic pathology.

To be considered at the Associate Professor level (tenure-track or tenured or clinical track), candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in diagnostic anatomic pathology and should show clear and convincing evidence of emerging stature as regional or national authority in their field.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
Preference will be given to those board-certified ( ACVP ) individuals with an advanced degree in pathology with at least 4 to 5 years' experience in diagnostic pathology/necropsy.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills are required.

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities
Job duties include directing the necropsy service of AVDL and overseeing the teaching of senior students on clinical rotation through necropsy. Position also includes training of residents in veterinary pathology. Adherence to quality assurance procedures, and participation in committees is expected. Opportunities for collaborative research and additional teaching exist.
