Job Description Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Sciences, the Assistant Professor of Biology is responsible for providing the Arts and Sciences Division at Rivier University with instruction in Biology and the department. The successful candidate will join a highly committed group of Biology faculty in the University's new Science and Innovation Center, a 35,000 square foot facility that opened in the fall of 2020.

Responsibilities:

Candidate must possess a keen interest and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring. students as well as the ability to work effectively with students of all levels and abilities.
Candidate should have a demonstrable understanding of how this discipline and this position support the education of nursing students.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues both in the department and throughout the University community.
The successful candidate may expect a teaching load which includes General Biology, Ecology, Animal Physiology, Animal Behavior, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. The successful candidate may also teach a general education course for undergraduate students: Stewards of the Living World.

SUPERVISON RECEIVED:
Direction and general supervision is received from the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICTIONS:
An earned doctorate in a biological science or health profession acquired by the start date of August 16, 2021.
All candidates should have experience teaching biology at the university level and a demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach a broad range of undergraduate biology courses.
A commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate, liberal arts program.
Desire to mentor undergraduate students in their course work, research, and career goals.
Knowledge of the field with a record of scholarship and a willingness to conduct research in an undergraduate setting. Preference will be given to those with an active research program and/or relevant experience in industry.
