The South Puget Sound Region is looking to fill a Forest Practices position in the Deschutes Unit. The work area is from the Interstate 5 to the Nisqually River off to the East and Puget Sound to the North. You would work primarily in Thurston County.
The South Puget Sound Region is looking to fill a Forest Practices Position in the Hood Canal Unit. The work area is from the Olympic Mountains in the West to the Puget Sound in the East. The Hood Canal runs through the middle of your unit and you would work primarily in Mason County.

DUTIES:
Responsibilities:
These positions are responsible for evaluating harvest proposals, stream crossings and protecting Washington's public resources. This is accomplished by possessing a working knowledge of the Washington State Forest Practice Rules and evaluating and approving/disapproving proposed
Forest Practice Applications. Facilitating Interdisciplinary Teams of natural resource professionals when evaluating proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
An Associate's Degree in forestry or a related field; AND four years of professional forestry experience.
Experience with GPS technology and GIS mapping products.
Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Communicate Effectively.
Work Effectively as a Team.
Customer Focus.
Dedication to a Safe Workplace.
The incumbent must be able to
work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
Field work is performed in isolated, unimproved natural areas.
The incumbent is required to travel. Large majority (60%) of time in the field traveling alone between forest practice sites. Some overnight stays may be required. The employee is eligible for per diem and lodging costs when in travel status, except when provided by the agency.
A valid driver's license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates may be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
Our ideal candidate will also have the qualifications listed below:
A Bachelor's degree involving major study Forestry, or related natural science and four years of paraprofessional experience in regulatory programs involving forestry.
