Post-Doctoral Research Associate - Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology at the University of Tennessee is seeking a post-doctoral research associate to study the genetics of viruses that infect microalgae. This is a full-time position. The post-doctoral research associate will work in a collaborative team and perform experiments that develop tools used to genetically engineer viruses in the Mimiviridae and their hosts, focusing on viruses of photosynthetic plankton. The associate will communicate with other investigators, write reports and manuscripts and assist in advising and training of graduate and undergraduate research students.

REQUIREMENTS:

A PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field must be completed by the starting date of the position and the candidate is expected to have experience with molecular biology and genetics. Experience working with and publishing peer-reviewed scientific papers focused on microalgae and or viruses would be seen as a strong attribute.
